Deadline status: Cash claims are open through October 19, 2026. Online: 11:59 p.m. Central Time; mail: postmarked that day.

The American Income Life data breach settlement may provide cash and two years of credit monitoring to 532,578 notice recipients. Final approval and payment are not guaranteed. Cash claims are due October 19, 2026. Confirm receipt of a notice, locate the member ID and preserve loss records.

  • The class contains 532,578 notice recipients.
  • Cash payments have a $3.4 million cap and may be reduced proportionally.
  • Claims may seek up to $5,000 for documented losses and up to $72 for lost time.
  • The final approval hearing is December 14, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. Central Time.

Current American Income Life Data Breach Settlement Status

The U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas granted preliminary approval on July 30, 2026, in In re American Income Life Insurance Co. and Globe Life Inc. Data Breach Litigation, No. 6:25-cv-00262. The court-authorized settlement website says final approval remains pending.

The lawsuits allege failures to protect personal information. The defendants deny wrongdoing, and the court has not decided the merits. Preliminary approval opened the claim process; it did not establish liability or begin payments.

Globe Life’s October 17, 2024 SEC filing said its ongoing investigation then involved information for approximately 5,000 people. The later settlement agreement says notices went to approximately 532,578 people from March through June 2025. The later count defines the class; it does not prove each recipient suffered identity theft or loss.

Who May Qualify for the American Income Life Data Breach Settlement

A person is included only if American Income Life and/or Globe Life sent that person a letter saying personal information may have been involved in the October 2024 incident. Customer status alone does not establish membership.

Excluded groups include the defendants’ directors, officers and agents; government entities; the assigned judge, immediate family and court staff; and anyone who properly opts out. A recipient missing the notice or member ID can call 833-930-0155.

Benefits, Proof Rules and Limits

American Income Life settlement benefit and proof matrix
Benefit Potential benefit Proof or condition
Documented losses Up to $5,000 for qualifying unreimbursed losses tied to the incident Third-party records such as receipts, correspondence or telephone records
Lost time Up to four hours at $18 per hour Self-certification of time spent responding to the incident
Credit monitoring Two years of Cyex Financial Shield Complete For class members who do not opt out, after final approval and the effective date

Illustrative calculation: Four hours multiplied by $18 equals a maximum lost-time request of $72. This does not establish payment. If valid cash claims exceed the $3.4 million cap, payments will be reduced proportionally. Administration costs, approved legal fees and service awards are separate.

Documented expenses must have been incurred between October 1, 2024 and the notice date. They cannot already have been reimbursed. Personal statements alone are not sufficient proof, although they may explain third-party records.

Paper claims go to: In re American Income Life Ins. Co. and Globe Life Inc. Data Breach Litig., c/o Kroll Settlement Administration LLC, P.O. Box 225391, New York, NY 10150-5391.

Do Nothing, Opt Out or Object

Doing nothing means no cash but allows monitoring later; if the settlement becomes effective, class members release covered claims. Opting out preserves separate claims but forfeits benefits. An objection does not remove class membership. Opt-outs must be postmarked by November 16, 2026. Objections must be filed with the court that day, with copies to counsel and the administrator postmarked that day. The official source does not specify a separate time-of-day cutoff.

Payment Timing and Next Milestone

The final approval hearing is scheduled for December 14, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. Central Time, although the date or format may change. No fixed payment date has been announced.

The agreement calls for valid cash payments within 90 days after the effective date and credit-monitoring activation within 45 days. Those clocks do not start when a claim is filed. Final approval, objections and appeals can delay or prevent the effective date.

Identity-Protection Steps

A claim does not replace identity-theft precautions. The Federal Trade Commission explains free credit freezes and fraud alerts. Anyone who finds unauthorized accounts can follow the CFPB identity-theft response steps and dispute inaccurate credit information with both the credit bureau and the company that supplied it.

Limitations and Bottom Line

The evidence does not establish a legal violation, misuse affecting every recipient, approval of any expense or final court approval. It also does not support dividing $3.4 million evenly among all class members.

The priority is the October 19 cash-claim deadline. Use only the authorized site; do not submit sensitive data through unsolicited links. Claim supportable losses, keep copies and monitor for final approval.
